I am going to have two credenzas in my new house. It's a fact. And it's not debatable :))!! One in the kitchen and one in the master bedroom. A few months ago, going through photos of home decor on the internet, I noticed a large piece of furniture that caught my eye. It was a long but low piece of furniture, something modern, straight lines, black and white (yeah, I'm obssessed!!) some glass. I was fascinated!! It was ....well...simply love at first sight! You can find it here, I wasn't able to download the picture from the site!
You must find out one thing about me: I like both old and new, I will try to decorate the house with hints of vintage-Diy mini projects, although the main furniture will be brand new and modern.Talking about credenzas I like both old-woody-heavy-intricate credenzas and ultra modern-sleek lines-lacquered ones!
Here are some of my favourite classical credenzas:
Such a classy vanity for the bathroom-Nella Vetrina
via Google
Vintage dresser (I'd transform it though...)
And here are some of the most modern ones (I'm drooling over some of these..)
A pink number from Room Service- such a treat!!
Now, wouldn't you like to have one of these in your room?! I know I would!!
As I have already told you, I am going to order a Tiacolors kitchen which will be very modern. I'm thinking white, black, composite, straight sleek lines and modern appliances. The tile in the kitchen is almost white, it looks like white stone and when the sun shines directly on it you can see there's a touch of sparkle in it. It's really great, I like it a lot! Against the walls, which are white (Savana teflon paint), the tiles look a bit beige, but they are not beige, they are white. That's why I'm not sure about the white, although I think I'll stick to it. As a pop of colour, I'd use a credenza on the opposite wall, and it wouldn't necessarily be a modern one. In my book, I'd find a real solid wood vintage credenza...maybe paint it in a bright colour, distress it a litlle.. That is my style, modern with a side of vintage. What do you think? I'd really want to hear your opinion on this one!
The photos I showed you in the beginning of the post are all from abroad stores, or online shops and it will cost you a loooot to get it to Romania. So I'll give you some alternatives from our country:
I think that the credenza in the kitchen is very classy, whether it's modern or vintage, it gives you the chance to display favourite items, a vase of fresh flowers or I'd love an orchid... I also imagine a dark wood credenza on my hallway, above which I'd hang a mirror like in the next photo and on top of the credenza I'd put a large plant:
It adds character to the place, turning it into a space you'd want to spend more time in.
In a future post I'll let you know on the whole plan for the kitchen,so stay tuned!!
Kisses,darlings!!
Credenzas are great - the perfect piece of furniture for both storage and to display pretty vignettes :-) You've shared so many wonderful credenzas here - I think my favourite is the one from Room Service with the white front, zebrano wood top & side, and lucite legs. I'm just not crazy about the brass pulls - they're a bit too big & chunky.
ReplyDeleteI think painting an old credenza a bright & fun colour for your kitchen is a great idea. Seeing as you're going with a black & white palette, the pop of colour will really stand out and make a statement :-) Chalk paint is great for getting the distressed look that you're going for :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Kelly, you've really made my day with your comment!! Thank you so much for reading my post and taking the time to comment! I'm honored!:) I'm glad that you approve of my wanting to use an old credenza in my future all- modern kitchen. Here, when I mention that I want to use an old piece of furniture that I want to paint for myself, people don't seem to be on board with that! So an approval coming from you is something!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you could point me to an online store that sells chalk paint and ships to Romania, as here I didn't find any...
Thank you so much!!
Apoi s-a transformat in 'CREDENTIA', iar in italiana a devenit 'CREDENZA'.
